We all know that travel has been very unpredictable the past few years. We stopped travelling as much while some of us stopped travelling completely. Some countries still have entry restrictions. It is easy to see why this has made people decide not to travel, at least for now.
Now that things are finally starting to go back to normal, it is time to start packing our suitcase and travel the world.

While the travel industry is trying to get back to normal, there are a lot of discounts at the moment to encourage people to travel. With flights and hotels offering great deals at affordable prices, it is worth checking out.
I love to check sky scanner for my flights. They compare fares for all the airlines so you are guaranteed to get the cheapest offer. For hotels, my go to is booking.com. Their website will show you all the availability there is in your location and give you the best prices. You can also filter what you want, for example, only show hotels with a pool or with breakfast included.

For the past five years I’ve learned so much while travelling. Travel has helped me to grow, gain more confidence and become a thousand times happier.
I have made new friends, learned new things and I have stepped out of my comfort zone many times, making me the person I am today.

I have become addicted to travelling. Each next new destination becomes my new favourite. As soon as I return home from somewhere I am already planning my next trip. I want to learn about other cultures and I want to see what else is out there. There is so much to discover.
Travel makes your life better for so many reasons. So, why should you travel in 2023?
Below, I have shared with you 9 reasons why travelling is good for you and the benefits it brings.

Learn about other cultures
One thing I enjoy most about travelling is learning about other cultures, and how different our world is from each other. There are plenty of documentaries out there that talk about lots of different travel topics but nothing beats seeing the world with your own eyes.
For example, one of the most interesting cultures I have met are from the people living in -30 degrees in Finland and Sweden. I loved learning about how they survive the winter and how they hunt their food.
You learn so much more when it is a local person explaining everything to you rather than what you watch on television.
Good for your mind and soul
If you are going through a tough time or dealing with a lot of stress, taking some time away from your day-to-day routine by visiting a new place can help you clear your mind. Sometimes all we need is to get away and do something we enjoy.
Whether that’s going on a beach holiday, a city break, or an adventure holiday. A change of scenery is always good for you and it is important to take some time for travelling.
I always come back feeling positive and ready to go back to my normal life as I have had time to reflect.

Make new friends for life
Travelling is a great way to meet new people. I have made friends abroad which I am still in touch with today. You get to meet lots of people from different walks of life and also people with similar interests to you. Meet the locals as well as other travellers.
There is the added bonus that you can go visit your new traveller friends in their home country.
Brings you closer to the people you are travelling with
Making new friends is great, but travelling with people that are already a part of your life, love and care about can make travelling better. Whoever you are travelling with, you will grow a stronger bond with. You are sharing the experience together and will always have those memories to look back on.
I believe that travel can improve friendships and relationships. You can do stuff together that you may not do back home. For example, going on a hike together or spending the day relaxing on a beach.

Become grateful and appreciate things
Sometimes we take things for granted and forget that there is always someone in a worse situation than us. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to go travelling, even though they work hard, money just isn’t enough.
If you are able to travel, then already you are luckier than a lot of people. Never take for granted the things you get to experience and the memories you are able to make.
I have met people that have never left their hometown. I know they are probably happy with their lives and happy with what they have, but it does make me reflect on my own life and I am so grateful that I have the freedom to travel where I want.
Try something new
Step out of your comfort zone and do something that you never thought you would do. This will help you become more confident. Before I started travelling I used to be scared of so many things and it would stop me from enjoying myself.
A few years ago, on my trip to Norway I had booked to go on a dog sledding tour and a snowmobile tour. Although I was terrifying, I really didn’t want to miss out. I wanted to experience these activities.
After deciding to go ahead and do the activities I had so much fun. Now, I can’t wait to try it out again. Since then I have been open to trying out new things without feeling scared and I feel a lot more confident.
It’s important to give new things a chance. You never know what you might enjoy and you do not want to miss out on a once in a lifetime experience.

Focus on now
Enjoy the moment and don’t stress about the past. I am guilty of this. There are times when I am worrying about the past, thinking, I wish I had done that, or just thinking about the low points of my life. If I am not worrying about the past then I am worrying about the future.
When I am abroad I forget about all that, I enjoy the moment and try to make the most of it.
Why worry about the past when it’s not something we can change or why worry about the future when we do not know what is going to happen? Just enjoy today and live your life to the fullest.

Spend your money wisely
If you want to travel then you will want to save as much as possible. So that you have money to book holidays and spend while you’re abroad. In my opinion, spending money on travel is money well spent, it’s definitely not money going to waste.
Travel can help you to stop wasting money on things you do not necessarily need.
Learn new skills for life
This is one of the best things you can get out of travelling. Imagine going to Italy and learning how to cook, or going to Spain and learning how to dance. There are so many new skills you can gain and bring back home with you.
I have a long list of things that I have learnt to do while abroad, including ice sculpting at the Ice Hotel in Sweden. It might not be a skill I can do back home but it is something I will be able to do again in the future when visiting a snowy destination. I will always be grateful for these opportunities.

I loved this post! I agree, travel is such a wonderful way to learn and expand our worlds–when better to try something new than when you’re in a new place? Thanks for sharing!
I have always loved visiting new places and the last 2 years were hard, but i was determined that this year will be different so I decided to visit Egypt in the Easter and it was lovely not to mention that it`s during Egyptian winter so it was not as hot as it is in August-September.
My last travel to Egypt was in August and I always thought I was going to pass out from the heat, but this time round it was brilliant.
I think everyone should make time to visit new country and see new places and cultures.
Totally agree! There are so many reasons to get back to traveling. My husband and I first started traveling together 6 months into dating and it changed our relationship – the shared experiences brought us closer together and we still enjoy the thrill of new cultures, food, and environments!
Great post, I really want to start traveling more too. And I love the point about learning about other’s culture-that is one of my favorite parts of traveling.
Great tips! It feels so good to get back into traveling again!
I agree with you. After Pandemic, it feels good to go outside and hangout with some people for a change. I hope this 2022 I get to travel more. Have a great day..
Ditto! I 100% agree with this! What a great post! Traveling is so good for the mind, body, and soul. You learn so much about yourself and about other cultures. It’s a great way to step out of your comfort-zone try something completely new. GROWTH!
I’ve been traveling ever since I had money to spare. I might have had some saving if I didn’t, but I wouldn’t trade those experiences and the things I learned during those travels for the world!
